Instructional Staff, including Teachers and Instructional Aides
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership to all staff and students in establishing a joyful, structured,and achievement-oriented school culture.
- Create and sustain programs for students that teach Empower’s vision, mission, culture and school expectations.
- Implement a behavior management system that is grounded in the School’s Honor Code and restorative justice practices, and ensure that infractions are teachable moments.
- Oversee day-to-day disciplinary issues in the school, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with school policies.
- Develop and implement processes, procedures, and protocols to support instructional growth and development.
- Assist the principal in developing staff development programming.
- Serve as liaison to parents and facilitate parent education and involvement, including reinforcing the need for parents to support the school’s policies and practices for student discipline, dress code, homework, and events.
- Organize school events including open houses, parent conferences, and student events.
- Be highly present and visible during school hours relentlessly ensuring a positive school environment
- Model the school’s core values and set the standard for professional behavior.
- Collaborate with other members of the school’s leadership team to create and sustain programs for students and families that recognize and celebrate achievement and continuous progress.
- Create the internal systems necessary to monitor and support student character development
- Any other duties as assigned by principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree of Higher
- Minimum 3 years of successful teaching and/or leadership experience, including documented instances of student academic, social, and emotional success;
- Demonstrated organizational skills;
- Demonstrated ability in data management and presentation;
- Exhibited leadership in working with professional staff, students, and the community;
- Agreement with the academic goals and philosophy of the Empower Community School;
- Commitment to accountability, including a rigorous student testing regime.
- Demonstrated success in encouraging parental involvement.
